So why is Joe Kennedy III running to represent Worchester?

An ad for Kennedy to represent Massachusetts as a U.S. senator is causing the candidate headaches right before the primary election.

A large ad that ran in the Sunday, Aug. 30 Worcester Telegram & Gazette contained the phrase: “Joe Kennedy III: For U.S. Senate, For Massachusetts, For Worchester.”

The primary election is Tuesday, Sept. 1. Kennedy is running against incumbent Sen. Ed Markey to be the Democrat on the November ballot.

Kennedy didn’t make the spelling error. The ad was produced by the Local 103 IBEW in support of the candidate. The Telegram & Gazette is not accepting responsibility for the advertising typo.

The misspelling has produced some decent jokes on social media about the lost city of Worchester, but only time will tell if it will have an impact on the election.
